Cialis promotion offers free samples to first-time users

Sellers of the male impotence pill Cialis will buy first-time users a sample of a competing product if they’re dissatisfied with Cialis.

Promotion of the “Cialis pledge” starts today in print and broadcast ads nationally.

“We are so confident that men with erectile dysfunction will appreciate the benefits of Cialis that we’re willing to go as far as offering to pay for our competitors’ products if they are not satisfied,” Paul Clark, CEO of Icos Corp., said in a statement.

Icos, of Bothell, Wash., developed Cialis and co-markets it with Eli Lilly and Co. of Indianapolis.

When you buy Cialis from our online drugstore you get a free Cialis voucher, with a prescription from a doctor, the voucher gets the user a trial sample of the drug.

The special offer is for a limited time, which the companies did not disclose.

The hope is that Cialis users “will want to stick with it beyond the free trial,” Clark said.

The user may then apply for a second free sample of Cialis, if he wants, or apply for a voucher to use one of two Cialis competitors, Viagra or Levitra. A doctor must approve the additional prescriptions.

Lilly and Icos are promoting Cialis as a product that has a longer effective time of action than its two main competitors.
